STRINGS ATTACHED DOCUMENTARY OVERVIEW

Anticipated Release: October 2020
Strings Attached is a gritty and thought-provoking documentary film that addresses domestic violence and sexual assault by exposing blind spots facing victims and the strings attached after escaping violence. The statistics are sobering: one in three women experience violence by an intimate partner. One in five women are sexually assaulted.
Directors and Producers Rachel Brummert and Jennifer Tucker are survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. They challenge the ingrained and misleading assumptions of “Why don’t women just leave?”, and “Boys will be boys”. Through their eyes, and others who share their stories, we bear witness to complex obstacles often facing people after their trauma; a system designed to fail survivors.
Strings Attached dismantles the misleading assumptions and provokes deeper discussion about preventing domestic violence, navigating resources, and asking the question: “How can we come together to do better?”
