On March 8, 2016 a colleague and I met with the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention. We discussed collaborating with the CDC on an awareness and communication campaign about fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
We met a second time on July 8, 2016. The awareness campaign about fluoroquinolone antibiotics would be included in the CDC’s Be Antibiotics Aware campaign which would address adverse events when fluoroquinolones are prescribed inappropriately.
I also met with the CDC in July 2017.
Our hard work paid off. The CDC published a paper on opportunities to improve fluoroquinolone prescribing in the United States for adult ambulatory care visits. It can be found here.
